En un foro de aviación argentino un forista sostiene que a Chile se le vendieron sólo 13 AMRAAM, mientras que el resto de foristas argentinos niegan que en Chile haya un sólo AMRAAM. ¿Qué noticias o datos oficiales se tienen en Chile?
PD. En ese mismo foro argentino se afirma que los AIM-9M y los Maverick chilenos son dummies, y que los que se han comprado están almacenados en EEUU y habría que pedir autorización especial para traerlos a Chile.

La información de los Amraan salio hace tiempo en unas notas, creo ya se postearon aquí, no tengo tiempo de buscarlas pero ahí confirman todo oficialmente, en todo caso 1 año antes de que siquiera se tenia confirmación de los AMRAAM en Chile yo supe por contactos en la FACH de que ya se disponían de ellos el numero exacto que me dieron en esa oportunidad fue de 142 C5 , no se cuantos haya ahora pero esa fue la cifra que me dieron, casi me descueran vivo aquí , con respecto a los 13, en realidad serian de la version C7, pero no son 13 misiles sino 13 cajas o AUR, en los que o vienen 4 o vienen 8, por lo que se tendrían 52 o 104, es absurdo ya que a esta fecha y con la información deliberada se ponga en duda este asunto saludos

Estimado Cartaphilus sin ofender, usemos la cabeza, Chile llevo todos su MLU a capacidad BVR. Fuera esto una de las razones principales porque opto por el Air Missile System NASAMS es por tira estos misiles... es decir Chile compro e hizo todo estas cosas para ponerles dummies? mi consejo, no repitas estas cosas por tu quedas como dummy!
Fuera de lo que dice Hunter en el 2007 EEUU confirmo la venta de 100 AMRAAM C-7 no C5 si no C7....pero creo que muchos que estamos aca ya estamos cansado de este temita....mi mama una vez me dijo: No hay peor ciego que el que no quiere ver.

La cifra que das estimado Hunter es una cifra mucho más creible y ante todo ajustada a las cantidades promedio de una Fuerza Aérea. Pues diviviendo ese número entre las plataformas nos da una cantidad de entre 3.0 y 3.5 misiles por avión, que es una cifra más ajustada a los estandares reales y las necesidades en materia de stock para una FA.
Lo otro es que si Chile ya tiene los AMRAAM, y eso está demostrado con fotos, no hay razón para pensar que se adquieran tan pocas unidades. La FACh es una fuerza bien balanceada y con recursos suficientes para permitirse un lote completo que equipe los tres escuadrones. Ya entrar a decir que es por falta de dinero no es un argumento muy creíble para un país como Chile que ha demostrado poder gastar con más libertad que cualquiera por éstos lares. Y decir que no han sido autorizados por el congreso americano es una argumento que se cae ante el peso de la evidencia gráfica.

Yo creo Anderson que diste en el clavo, no veo otro motivo por el cual se sigan con estas discusiones fútiles...y con respecto a recibir en el 2007 el C7, no, hasta lo que tengo entendido fueron, y como vuelvo a repetir C5 en una cifra de 142 misiles, del C7 se tiene la duda que sean entre 52 o 104, pero de que están , están, saludos

Daedalus Aviation Group completed first FACh Pacer Amstel modification
January 21, 2011 (by Marc van Lokven) - On January 6th 2011 Daedalus Aviation Group completed their first Chilean F-16 structural "Pacer Amstel" modification after an uneventful, successful Functional Check Flight from Cerro Moreno Air Base in Chile.
After the Chilean Air Force (FACh) has bought surplus Mid Life Update (MLU) F-16 fighter aircraft from the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the Dutch defense industry committed to deliver in-country support.
The Daedalus Aviation Group, headquartered in Tilburg, has a lead role in this commitment and provides on-site F-16 support in various areas together with its Dutch defense industry partners all combined under an umbrella called "NEWCO".
In order to develop capabilities within FACh and its national MRO partner ENAER, Daedalus has been contracted to perform a life-extending structural modification project on a total of 3 FACh block 15 F-16 MLU aircraft known as "Pacer Amstel", which is a combination of the "Falcon Star" project, deferred work of "Falcon Up" and a significant amount of rewiring.
During this project knowledge will be gradually transferred to the Chileans who will do the rest of the fleet predominantly by themselves. Combining complex maintenance with an intensive on-the-job training is one of the unique competences that Daedalus offers to its clients. Besides the execution of the work itself, Daedalus also supported FACh during the preparation phase and is responsible for all associated Program Management tasks.
Just recently, on January 6th 2011, the first modified F-16, tail number #728, executed a successful Functional Check Flight, which is quite a performance considering the fact that during the modification the aircraft is disassembled for a substantial part. While the first aircraft has been officially turned back over to FACh, the modifications on the second F-16 are already two-third done and the third and final F-16 in this project is halfway completed and planned to be rolled out of the hangar at Antofagasta’s Cerro Moreno Air Base by the end of April 2011.

Military Sales and Transfers ----------------------------
31. (C) In March 2007, the U.S. delivered the last two of ten new Block 52 F-16 fighter aircraft--the first major purchase of U.S. equipment since the 1976 U.S. cut-off of military sales during the Pinochet era. Chile also received 18 reconditioned Block 15 F-16s (mid-life upgrade--MLU), with Block 50-like capabilities from the Netherlands. An LOA for a USD 45 million, five-year FMS support case for these aircraft was submitted to the FACH and signed on May 15, 2008. Delivery of U.S. manufactured weapons systems for the aircraft purchased from the U.S. began in 2007 and include AIM 9M Sidewinder, AIM 120 C5 AMRAAM, GBU 31 JDAM, AGM65 G2 Maverick, and GBU 10/12 Paveway. It should be noted that the Chilean Air Force (FACH) also purchased Derby and Python 4 air-to-air missiles for their F-5, F-16 MLU, and F-16 Block 52 fighters from Israel.
32. (C/NF) After being offered the USG grant of two Excess Defense Article (EDA) KC-135E refueling aircraft for USD 42 million, the FACH instead decided to pursue acquisition of an alternative fixed boom air refueling capability for their F-16s, contracting with EADS for purchase of two modified Airbus A-310 MultiRole Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, reportedly for USD 114 million. The acquisition of A-310s was problematic and the FACH canceled the contract due to expense and long delivery times. The FACH has recently submitted an official Letter of Request (LOR) for three KC-135E aircraft and requested delivery of at least one operational aircraft by October 2009. Other recent developments in FACH weapons system acquisition are the potential purchase of 16 additional used F-16 aircraft from the Dutch, as well as an LOR for the Avenger air defense system. If selected, this system could reaffirm benefits of the FMS program.
33. (C) Additionally, the Chilean Ministry of the Interior may be to be interested in a medium-lift helicopter for domestic missions, with both the Blackhawk and the Russian Mi-17-V5 receiving the strongest considerations. Ambassador Simons has made forceful presentations on behalf of the Blackhawk to both the FACH Commander in Chief as well as the Minister of the Interior. However it appears that a decision is not imminent at this time. The FACH recently contracted with Bell for 12-18 model 412 utility medium-light helicopters.
34. (C) With regards to space, the FACH has expressed interest in training and education in space operations and information on other cooperative opportunities. In October 2008 they inaugurated a satellite imagery download and processing station, consisting of U.S-purchased radar and data processing equipment. Chile reportedly will purchase imagery on the commercial market until they can use their own earth observation satellite. The GOC recently awarded a contract for approximately USD 70 million to EADS-Astrium to develop the satellite, which reportedly will also be used for defense-related purposes. The satellite is scheduled to be launched from China in 2010 as a part of Chile,s bicentennial celebration.
35. (SBU) The Army and Navy are also considering significant purchases of U.S.-manufactured systems. In 2006, the Chilean Army received 72 of a projected 200 M1098A2 series HMMWVs, and has nearly exhausted its first FMS case for USD 600,000 in spare parts for the M-113 A2/M548 A1 FOV. The Army has requested its first major purchase FMS case for 12 M109A5 self-propelled 155 mm Howitzers. The Army is interested in future government-to-government purchases to enable transparency of future acquisitions and support life-cycle interoperability via FMS. The Chilean Army and Air Force are considering acquiring together a short-to-medium range air defense system that is being offered by the U.S. Army. Both services requested Letters of Offer and Acceptance for the AVENGER system, which includes the SENTINEL radar. If selected, this system could reaffirm benefits of the FMS program, build greater interoperability, and further strengthen military ties between the U.S. and Chile. The Army has also expressed interest in acquiring MILES equipment and training, engineering equipment, and cargo aircraft. Lastly, the Chilean Army has requested a Letter of Offer and Acceptance to establish an office at USASAC New Cumberland. The Chilean Army FMS office at USASAC New Cumberland is a priority for the Army to equal its sister services acquisition benefits and will be the linchpin for additional FMS cases being established. 36. (SBU) Over the last four years, the Chilean Navy has modernized its entire surface combatant force through the purchase of four frigates from the U.K. (one Type 22 and three Type 23 frigates) and four frigates from the Dutch (two L Class and two M Class frigates). The Navy has ordered Harpoon launch systems and upgrades for all eight recently acquired frigates (this order included 22 Harpoon BLK 1C and a number of NATO Sea Sparrow missiles), and ordered the SM-1 missile launch system for the Type 22 frigate. Additionally, the Navy intends to upgrade the L Class frigates with the SM-2 missile launch system. The Navy, within the last year, took possession of 10 Harpoon BLK II missiles that were purchased from the U.S. in addition to 50 NATO Sea Sparrow rocket motors and miscellaneous equipment. The Chilean Navy is in the process of joining the U.S.-organized Harpoon Missile International Users Group and has already joined the SM-1 Missile International Users Group (at a combined cost of approximately USD 17 Million). The Navy recently purchased KIT-1C MODE IV IFF for their Cougar helicopters, four Defender Class Patrol Boats, P-3 pilot training in Jacksonville Florida, and the C2PC Command and Control system for their Marine Corps ground forces.

On November 17, 2008, CNO Roughead submitted a letter expressing the oiler,s availability, and on December 18 both Adm Codina and Adm Roughead signed an MOA regarding utilization of the oiler in support of USN maritime operations. The approximate value of the Higgins transfer is USD 48 million.

El presidente Sebastián Piñera respondió a las acusaciones del canciller peruano, quien había considerado "desproporcionado" su gasto en el área de defensa. El país "no pretende agredir a nadie", agregó el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Alfredo Moreno
"Chile no está en ninguna carrera armamentista, ni tiene un gasto desproporcionado en defensa, es el gasto que se requiere para cumplir con un país que es amante de la paz, respetuoso de los tratados, de sus vecinos y respetuoso del derecho internacional", dijo Piñera en respuesta a la acusación del peruano Rafael Roncagliolo.
El mandatario afirmó que está interesado en promover, como lo ha hecho en el seno de la Unión de Naciones Sudamericanas (Unasur), un mecanismo de mayor transparencia a través de la homologación en el gasto de defensa para despejar las dudas y las incertidumbres.
Por su parte, el canciller Alfredo Moreno afirmó que "Chile es un país que no tiene aspiraciones reivindicatorias en otros países, porque apuesta por la paz, es defensor del estricto cumplimiento de los tratados, especialmente limítrofes y, por tanto, con su gasto en defensa no pretende agredir a nadie".
"En estos tiempos hay muchas maneras de comprobar la fidelidad de la información y hacer mediciones comparativas" en gastos militares, añadió el canciller chileno.
Demanda marítima
Entrevistados por los diarios El Comercio y El Mercurio respectivamente, Piñera y Moreno se refirieron al litigio que mantiene su país con Perú para fijar sus límites marítimos.
"El mundo no se termina con el fallo de (la corte internacional de) La Haya", explicó el mandatario, para quien ambos países deben prepararse para que su relación siga siendo "inteligente, amistosa y constructiva" cualquiera que sea la sentencia.
Piñera agregó que como presidentes, él y el mandatario peruano, Ollanta Humala, tienen que "ser capaces de levantar la vista y mirar más allá" de la resolución. "Dejemos a La Haya, lo que le corresponde a La Haya y al presidente Humala y al presidente Piñera lo que nos corresponde a los presidentes, como es la integración y el progreso de nuestros pueblos", apuntó.
Moreno, en tanto, señaló que "sobre los gobiernos de Chile y Perú recae la responsabilidad de que sus pueblos acojan con serenidad y mesura el fallo de La Haya, porque habrá llegado el momento de dejar atrás las diferencias y trabajar juntos por la cooperación".
En este sentido, el canciller chileno apostó por la integración con Perú y con el resto de la región, como "el futuro" del continente."Si manejamos bien las relaciones con nuestros vecinos y con la región, podemos lograr una integración mucho mayor y los beneficios son muy grandes para todos. Ése es el futuro y eso es lo que vemos en todos los países, pese a que a veces no se nota por los problemas del día a día", sostuvo.

ya se ha comentado lo poco practico de usar neumaticos en el desierto por las C.C.C. y de las limitantes que tienen en terrenos del sur (especialmente en los de estepa)
se que no soy amigo de lo ruso pero... esta podría ser una gran solución logistica.

Yo creo que es muy poco probable que se adapte algún vehículo Ruso, partiendo porque cambias la logistica .., personalmente encuentro inferior la mecánica de ellos, no hay mayores garantías con respecto a calidad en si, a que me refiero?????..... a que no hay mayor certificación de algunas cosas y claramente esto es una desventaja que ya a visto sus problemas en los innumerables países en los que ha operado el armamento Ruso, saludos
